Backpacking to North to the nth power!!! πŸ˜

Feb. 25-27, 2017 San Juan, La Union to Vigan, Ilocos Sur

Maximizing my 2 days to the surfing capital of the north San Juan, La Union 7 hours away from busy Manila and headed straight to Calle Crisologo, Vigan 😁 A perfect place to hang out from the hustle and bustle city!!!

dsc_0014-01Everyone loves the beach right? When we’re not at the beach we’re always thinking about it and imagining ourselves walking down at the sandy shore. And hey! it’s not the beach only, it’s the sport of surfing that provides backpackers like me a new taste of lifestyle at the beach.received_1456666427686196-01

Arrived at 5:30 am at San Juan and checked-in at San Juan Surf Resort, one of the most popular resort in San Juan. A much better location – beachfront and along the national highway only. So much accessible and convenient to ride and go anywhere.

Daydreaming about the warm sun against our skin and burying our feet in the soft sand. We go to the beach for a different reasons – to be relax or to catch a wave, but no matter what the reasons, you will find tranquility and happiness that you can’t feel in the city.dsc_0044_1-01

Watching sunset at the beach, a minutes of relaxing, natural sounds of waves through the sandy shores as the sun slowly sinks into the ocean.

HOW TO GET TO LA UNION:

  1. Manila to La Union takes 6-7hours bus ride. You can choose any of the following bus terminals to go there.

Partas Transportation – Cubao
816 Aurora Boulevard, Cubao, Quezon City

Partas Transportation – Laon Laan (380/pax)
Sampaloc, Manila

Partas Transportation – Pasay
Tramo corner Edang St., San Roque, Pasay City

Dominion Bus Lines
EDSA corner New York St., Quezon City

Viron Transportation Co., Inc.
1209 Dapitan corner Blumentritt Streets, Sampaloc, Manila

There’s so many hostels, inns and transients along the beach but we chose San Juan Surf Resort. I feel comfortable and safe, your home away from your home.

Your travel to North will never be completed if you don’t visit the old houses at Calle Crisologo, Vigan City. 4 hours away from La Union. Be fascinated and mesmerized to the old structures of the houses and cultures of locals here.dsc_0075-02

And don’t forget to drop by Lampong’s restaurant and savour their “Poqui Poqui” dish and Vigan Longanisa! I’m pretty sure you’ll love it too!

We took a Super Deluxe bus at Partas terminal because I have a job left in Manila πŸ˜₯ Vigan to Manila took 8hours bus ride via TPLEX. Lucky I”m at Manila around 4am and took a shower and back to work with no sleep! Weekend warrior it is!

2 days is not enough to explore the Northern part but I’m so glad I’ve been to these beautiful places!

Never stop exploring and wandering. Keep traveling.
